My first blog

Welcome to my blog. My name is Lynne but I refer to myself as “geekgal”. I have been a geek for most of my life. I started my work life as a secretary and proceeded to prove I had what it takes to do computer tech support work. From there I climbed the ladder to my current occupation of Systems Admin. I work for a university managing and maintaining the windows servers. While trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life I ended up with a BS degree in Ag Education and an MLIS (Masters of Library Information Systems) degree. In the end, I decided that I really did enjoy managing and maintaining computers so that is where I stayed. As for my home life, I reside on 2.5 acres in central California with my husband and 6 chickens.

Geekgal Cooks?

From my eclectic degrees, you probably think that a geek wouldn’t enjoy cooking. However, I have always loved to bake and would usually bake mostly during the holidays. With the recent turn of events and now working from home, I have found that I really enjoy cooking! My ancestry consists of an eclectic mix of Norwegian, English, German, and a touch of french. While I mostly cook American-type foods I do have a few choice ethnic recipes that I enjoy. Specific ethnic recipes are special family Norwegian recipes, but I also have some other special tried and true ethnic recipes to share.

Not just food

Along with blogging about recipes, I hope to share some Geek insights with you. Many of my blogs will include what I call a “geek tip” which will have technical tips I have learned along the way. I hope you enjoy.
